Hendrix Rehearsal Notes 29 May 2010

Looking back, it’s been a season with many more highlights and only a few setbacks. The setbacks I can count on one hand while the highlights are too numerous to mention. For me these highlights will become happy memories that I will always remember.

Thank you all for the highlights and memories. Now the real fun starts... “It’s showtime!”

It truly has been my pleasure,

Ed

P.S. For those that would like to share their experience with the show, lessons, etc. there will be a friend of mine, Stephen Ott, at the Ollie’s show on Saturday who will be filming testimonials. Thanks again.

The Future of Lightning Licks Part II

Dear Students and Parents,

As you know, Ed has invited me to your performance on June 6th. I'm so excited to see the show!

My background is in acting and casting. I recently worked on a casting people on the street for a promotion for the new "Twilight" film so I have a lot of experience working with people who are new to the camera. I wondered if I could interview some of you for a video to be posted to Ed's site in the future?

Here are the questions:
  1. How long have you/your child been practicing music? How long with Ed?
  2. What’s changed in your/your childs life since working with Ed?
  3. What do you/your child do to get ready for practicing guitar?
  4. What do you do when you practice at home? How has that changed since classes with Ed?
  5. What’s your favorite part of class?
  6. What do you like about Ed?
  7. How do you feel when you play with Ed?
  8. What’s your favorite guitar class memory?

Hendrix Rehearsal Notes 22 May 2010

Finally, all of the above could be the reasons behind “Ed’s Problem” but they are not. That is the price that every music director pays for being the music director. This was my problem: the lack of respect, the cutesy comments, the blaming of your parts not being ready on your teachers, etc. I hear what’s being said when I race through the lobby from one rehearsal room to the next. I try to treat you like adults and this week you reminded that you are children which is why I chastised you like children. If you remember back to week one my first speech was about respecting yourselves and each other. That did not fully happen this week and it was only a few of you and you should know better.

The Future of Lightning Licks

As this show season comes to an end the future of the Lightning Licks website needs to become a priority. As such, I’ve decided to create a music instruction website. I’ve also commissioned a PR consultant to help with branding, marketing and creating a buzz. He would like to begin by recording some testimonials from students and parents at the Hendrix Show. This, of course, made me uncomfortable at first but I did commission him to follow his suggestions.
